Tamara S. Rapier, RPT, has a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy and a specialization in Dance from the University of Missouri. Tamara has trained extensively and is a senior instructor with John Barnes. She has also studied Equine MFR with Mark F. Barnes and John Barnes. She treats horses of all types and disciplines locally in Missouri and nationwide with great success. She combines her love of horses, understanding of quality of movement from dance training and physical therapy with myofascial release to implement successful treatment programs and informative instruction.

Would you like to host an Equine MFR Seminar?

Thank you for your interest in hosting a 2003 Equine Myofascial Release seminar. We have had remarkable success with the seminars in past years and are looking forward to another year of high-quality and professional seminars. There are several advantages to being a host. You can take the semiar at a reduced cost or free, depending on your level or participation. The seminar will be in your area, so you can avoid the added expenses of airfare, hotel, and rental car costs. In addition, our seminars can be a great way to market your business. The seminar schedule will be finalized by March 15, 2003, so please let us know as soon as possible if you can host a course.

Seminar Description
Our Equine Myofascial Release seminars are 3-day courses, usually hosted over a weekend to allow for the most flexibility for those traveling to the seminar. The seminars are typically scheduled as follows:

We offer participants a continental breakfast everyday as well as an afternoon snack. Participants are given a lunch break to spend as they wish, however if the seminar location is some distance from the nearest restaurants, we will provide lunch as well.

General requirements of the host are as follows:

  • Name, location, and photos of the facility
  • Name, phone number, and email of facility contact person
  • Map of area including local information on the nearest large airport and hotels near facility
  • Directions to hotels from airport and from hotels to the facility
  • Chamber of Commerce phone number and website
  • Rental car information or shuttle service information
  • Information about nearby food stores and restaurants
  • Pre-Pay the facility rental fee (if any)
  • Provide and prepare all foods and supplies for light breakfasts and afternoon snacks
  • Names and addresses of local interested people/barns
  • Pay any marketing and advertising costs specific to the site
  • Prepare any marketing materials specific to the site
  • Communicate with the seminar coordinator regarding the needs of seminar site and instructor

Requirements of the host facility are as follows:

  • Access to partial indoor arena
  • Access to partial outdoor arena
  • Conference room/lounge area for presentation and breaks - this area will need electricity as we have a video presentation
  • Approximately 20 chairs
  • Restroom facilities
  • Parking facilities
  • Area with small table for continental breakfast and afternoon snack
  • Access to 10-12 horses with signed owner waivers
  • Access to 3-5 mounting blocks
  • Signed rental agreement
  • Signed waiver/release by barn owner

Tamara S. Rapier's Traveling Treatment Programs

Initial Evaluation and Treatment per horse
$150.00/hour plus expense

Initial Evaluation consists of:

  • History of Horse
  • Gait Analysis
  • Postural Evaluation
  • Palpation and Landmark Assessment
  • Soft Tissue Mobility
  • MFR Treatment including: suppling and therapeutic exercise
  • Treatment Plan

 

Follow-up Treatments          
$150/hour plus expenses

Treatment consists of:

  • Hands on work
  • Therapeutic exercise and suppling techniques
  • Necessary modalities, such as: hot/cold, ultrasound, infra-red, homeopathics, and herbal linaments
